Our new apprentice Stuart discusses the importance of data destruction.

One of the most important topics I've learnt about during my early days at Asset Remarketing is data destruction and how vital it is. Data security is an essential aspect of IT for all organisations and a key consideration when disposing of old IT equipment.

Significant risk

When travelling into work I often hear on the news about cyber criminals hacking into businesses' IT systems, to gain access to confidential financial and personal data. Increasingly, a wide range of information can now be bought and sold on the dark web. And sadly, many organisations don't realise the consequences until their data falls into the wrong hands.

I've also been learning about another big development which was introduced earlier this year - the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This new legislation means that businesses found not to have adequately disclosed breaches or protected their users face huge fines, as well as reputational damage which could be catastrophic to businesses.

Certified secure data disposal

One of the key things I've recognised at Asset Remarketing, is that we are committed to ensuring that our clients' personal and private information is kept secure to minimise the risk to their business and any possible data breaches. All our data removal procedures, either through our in-house processing or onsite services, ensure clients fulfil the most stringent security demands.

We guarantee that all data and media devices have been completely data wiped or physically destroyed. So, whether you're disposing or recycling old hardware such as PCs and hard disk drive (HDD) storage, we provide a complete data destruction service with full certification.
